Pro4mance Roofing & Home Improvements installs seamless aluminum gutters from our office at 333 N Main St, Suite D, in downtown London, Kentucky. Seamless gutters are made in one continuous piece for each run, so there are no joints along the length to pull apart and drip, and we color-match them to your trim. We install 5-inch and 6-inch gutters, leaf-guard systems, and downspouts sized and placed to carry water away from your foundation. We also replace gutters bent or dented by hail, wind, and falling limbs. We work in London, Corbin, and all of Laurel County, plus nearby Whitley, Knox, and Clay counties. Every job starts with a free estimate where we measure the house and look at where water goes once it leaves the roof. Call (606) 401-9922.
Most houses with a moderate roof pitch do fine with 5-inch gutters. Six-inch gutters are worth it on steep roofs, metal roofs, big roof sections that drain to one gutter, and corners where a valley dumps water.
Gutter size is about how fast water reaches the edge in a hard downpour, not the square footage of the house. A steep or metal roof sheds water quickly, and a valley funnels two roof planes into a few feet of gutter, which is where overflow shows up first. A 6-inch gutter holds more and pairs with 3x4-inch downspouts, which have twice the opening of standard 2x3-inch downspouts.
| 5-inch seamless | 6-inch seamless | |
|---|---|---|
| Usual downspout | 2x3-inch | 3x4-inch |
| Water capacity | Enough for most homes | Noticeably more per foot |
| Good fit | Average pitch, smaller roof sections | Steep or metal roofs, long runs, valleys |
| Clogging | Downspouts clog sooner under trees | Larger downspouts pass leaves more easily |
| Look | Proportional on most one-story homes | Proportional on two-story homes and wide fascia |
Put them where the water can be carried to the downhill side of the house. On a sloped lot, the uphill wall already takes runoff from the yard, and roof water dumped there soaks the soil right against the foundation.
Plenty of homes around London and Laurel County are built into a hillside, with a basement or crawl space that stays damp after every storm. Saturated soil presses on basement walls, washes out beds and walkways, and can let water into a crawl space. On the uphill side, we route downspouts around the corner or into a pipe that carries water downhill, instead of letting it pool against the wall.
As a starting point, plan on a downspout about every 30 to 40 feet of gutter, with the gutter sloped gently toward each outlet. Extensions should release water several feet from the house, and never onto a driveway or step where it will freeze in January. If grading, not gutters, is the real problem, we'll tell you.
Fascia rot almost always means water is getting behind the gutter: overflow from clogs, a missing or short drip edge, or a gutter pitched the wrong way so water sits.
Once the fascia board softens, the hangers lose their grip and the gutter sags, which makes the overflow worse. We replace rotted fascia before hanging new gutters, because a new gutter screwed into soft wood won't stay put, and we repair damaged soffit at the same time. Watch for these signs:
Planning a new roof too? Do the roof first so the drip edge laps into the new gutter correctly. See roof replacement in London, KY, or pair gutters with siding and replacement windows. Businesses can add gutters to a commercial roofing project.
For a house under oaks, maples, or pines, a good leaf guard usually earns its keep in fewer clogs and skipped ladder trips. For a house with no trees nearby, it's often unnecessary.
Basic screens are the cheapest, but pine needles lodge in the holes. Fine micro-mesh guards stop needles and shingle grit, though the surface still needs an occasional brushing. Hood-style guards let water follow a curved lip into the gutter while leaves slide off, but very heavy rain can overshoot the lip. We recommend one based on the trees actually over your roof.
Yes, hail dents aluminum gutters and downspouts, and when a covered storm caused it, gutters are often part of the claim along with the roof.
Adjusters often check gutter and downspout dents first, because they show hail size and direction. Wind and falling limbs bend gutters and rip hangers out of the fascia. You file the claim; we inspect, document the damage with dated photos and measurements, write the estimate, and can meet your adjuster. The cost of seamless gutters in London, KY depends on the house more than the product. The main factors are the total length of gutter, whether the home needs 5-inch or 6-inch gutters, how many downspouts and corners the roof requires, the height of the house and how hard the eaves are to reach, whether rotted fascia has to be replaced first, and whether you add leaf guards. Removing and hauling away old gutters is part of most jobs. Because those details change from one Laurel County home to the next, Pro4mance measures the house during a free estimate and gives you a written price instead of a guess over the phone.
Often, yes. When a covered hail or wind storm dents or tears gutters and downspouts, many homeowner policies in Laurel County include them in the claim, usually alongside roof damage from the same storm, though coverage always depends on the policy and deductible. The homeowner files the claim with the insurance company. Pro4mance inspects the gutters, downspouts, and roof, documents the damage with dated photos and measurements, writes an estimate, and can attend the adjuster's inspection in London or nearby. Kentucky law does not allow a contractor to negotiate a claim for the homeowner or to pay, waive, or rebate a deductible, and Pro4mance does neither.
